Background:
Dr. Tao joined the faculty of the University of
Texas at Arlington in 2001. Prior to that he was the
South Central Bell Assistant Professor of Electrical
Engineering at Louisiana Tech University. Between
1986 and 1992 he was on the faculty of Materials
Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University. His
current research interests include atomic-scale
engineering of semiconductor interfaces, all
wet-chemical fabrication of high-efficiency solar
cells, fundamentals of chemical vapor deposition,
and active and smart interconnects in integrated
circuits. His research has been sponsored by NSF,
SEMATECH, SRC, PRF, ATP, and ONR. Dr. Tao has
authored or co-authored over 100 journal articles
and conference presentations. He received the the
Young Faculty Award in 2004 and the South Central
Bell Professorship in 2001. He is a member of the
IEEE, ECS, and AAAS.
