PERSONAL INFORMATION.

Dr. Francisco Javier Maldonado Diaz was born on December 6, 1962 at Xalapa, Veracruz (Mexico). He received the bachelor of Industrial Engineering in Electronics from the Technologic Institute of Veracruz, Veracruz, in 1985 and a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Technologic Institute of Chihuahua [ITCH] at the Graduates Center & Research [GCR], in 1988. In 1988 he obtained a grant from the National System of Researchers (Mexico) and became part of the Faculty of the GCR (now Division of Graduate Studies and Research [DEPI] of the ITCH). There he realized research and academic work, in the area of digital systems, and also attended several commissions as the realization of the proposal for the Ph.D. program of EE at the ITCH (1996). In 1997 he obtained a scholarship (Fulbright-Conacyt) and started his Ph.D. program in EE at the University of Texas at Arlington. In the first part of his studies he was an assistant in the Advanced Control and Sensor group at the Automation and Robotics Research Institute [ARRI], under the addressing of Dr. Frank Lewis. After that, he was a research assistant in the Image Processing and Neural Networks Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Michael Manry . He graduated on December 14, 2002 with the Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.

After returning to his school in Mexico to teach, he has come back to Fort Worth, where he again works for Williams Pyro

His principal research interests are in the area of Neural Networks (training algorithms and applications), Signal Processing and Intelligent Control.
