Performed researches related to grants of the Electro-Optics Research Center. Duties include grating diffraction analysis (RCWA : Rigorous coupled-wave analysis) computer code generation for various diffraction grating configurations, theoretical and experimental studies on grating anomalies (guided-mode resonance, surface plasmon resonance etc.), finding novel grating diffraction phenomena and applications, and their experimental verifications.

Participated in prototyping a tactical surface-to-air guided missile system specialized on the search and tracking system (includes search radar, tracking radar and electro-optic tracking system). Worked on sensor performance analysis for upgrading the design, prototype system integration and test, field performance test, system maintenance and technical documentation for integrated logistics support (ILS).

Analysis (both approximate transmittance approach and exact rigorous coupled-wave analysis) and experiment of diffraction by surface-relief gratings with conic cross-sectional grating shape as novel high-efficiency, uniform-intensity beam dividers. Researches also include characterization of diffraction properties of high-spatial-frequency dielectric and metallic surface-relief gratings.

Current Research Topics : Guided-mode resonance in multilayer thin-film waveguide-gratings structures (theory and experiment), and their device applications, grating-diffraction analysis (RCWA), other grating diffraction characteristics such as surface- plasmon resonance.
