Enrollment Requirement: The student must be enrolled in
the Graduate School for the semester in which graduation
is planned. Enrollment in courses outside the major and
minor fields will not satisfy final semester enrollment
requirements. Thesis students must be enrolled in EE
5698; dissertation students must be enrolled in EE 6999
in the final semester.
In addition, the following items must be filed in the
Graduate School office and the required fees paid by the
deadlines specified in the Graduate School calendar (see
http://grad.uta.edu/leftMenuPages/gradcalendar.asp
for Graduate School calendar):
-
Application for Graduation must be filed in the
Graduate School office (333 Davis Hall). Applicants
will be billed for the Diploma Fee. This should be
done as early in the semester as possible. The
application and fee are non-transferable and
non-refundable. If a student does not graduate,
he/she must reapply for graduation and pay the
diploma fee again. See Graduate calendar for
deadlines.
-
Application for Candidacy and Final Program of Work
form may be obtained from the EE Advising Office
(501 Nedderman Hall). This form must be signed by
the student, the supervising committee, the Graduate
Advisor and the Graduate Studies Committee Chairman.
The Advising Office will obtain all approval
signatures for non-thesis students. Thesis, thesis
substitute, and dissertation students are
responsible for obtaining the signatures of their
supervising committees; the Advising Office will
obtain the signatures of the Advisor and Graduate
Committee chairman. The Advising Office will mail
the form to the Graduate School for approval by the
Dean of the Graduate School. The TSE requirement
should be satisfied prior to processing the Final
Program of Work. See Graduate calendar for
deadlines.
-
Students wishing to participate in the commencement
ceremony must register with the office of the Dean
of Engineering. Details are available on the Dean’s
webpage at
http://www.uta.edu/engineering/commencement.
-
Caps, gowns, tassels, and hoods are available
through the University Bookstore. Each student is
responsible for making arrangements for academic
regalia. Contact the Bookstore early in the semester
concerning availability.
-
Thesis/Thesis Substitute/Dissertation students must
file the Request for Master’s Examination or
Dissertation Defense and the Master’s Examination
Report or Dissertation Defense Report by the
deadlines specified in the Graduate calendar. Blank
forms are available in the Advising Office.
-
Thesis/Dissertation students must submit their
thesis/dissertation to the Graduate School for a
mechanical check by the specified deadline. The
thesis/dissertation must be left in the Graduate
School for 48 hours (excluding weekends/holidays)
for the mechanical check. For more information about
the submission of acceptable theses and
dissertations, consult the Thesis and
Dissertation Manual of Style available from the
Bookstore.
-
Once the thesis/dissertation has been approved as to
mechanical correctness, the student will be allowed
to make the final three copies (all on at least 25%
cotton bond) and submit them to the Graduate School.
At this point, the student must pay the binding and
microfilming fees. If the thesis/dissertation is to
be copyrighted, the student must pay the copyright
fee at this time.
-
Additional items required of thesis and dissertation
students are the following:
a) Typist sheet, Library sheet, Title fly with
signatures, and a Data Sheet.
b) Complete and sign the microfilming agreement and
attach a copy of your abstract.
