About Us
The Giga-Nano Semiconductors Group at the University of Texas at Arlington is headed by Professor Meng Tao in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Our mission is to develop novel semiconductor materials and devices to address a few issues facing today's semiconductor industry, and more generally, our society. We pursue innovative technologies through original and fundamental research. Most of our research is carried out in the NanoFAB Center at the University.
Our research focuses on semiconductor surfaces, interfaces, and thin films. Through a understanding of semiconductor surfaces, interfaces, and thin films at the atomic scale, we can better manipulate the chemical, electrical, and optical properties of various semiconductors. These atomically-engineered semiconductor surfaces, interfaces, and thin films enable novel devices for computing, telecommunication, and renewable energy. Our research has been sponsored by National Science Foundation, Texas Advanced Technology Program, SEMATECH, Petroleum Research Fund, Office of Naval Research, and Semiconductor Research Corporation.
